Kia ora memoir writer!
How’s your story coming along today?
Today I want to answer a question I often get asked – ‘where can I print my book?’
The answer is: it depends. If you’re keeping things simple and you’re not fussy about how it looks, pop along to your local print shop and ask them what your options are. Ask them if they could print your book and if so, could they show you an example of what it might look like. Chances are they can help you print a lovely copy of your book.
If you want a spine for your book, like the ones you see in your bookshelf, ask them if they can do those. Not all printers can. If they can’t, ask them if they can recommend someone who can.
I work with a book printer in Nelson that helps professional writers produce books. I use them because they print books that will last generations, they have spines and they look great.
I met one gentleman in Hokitika recently (some of you Hokitika folk will know who he is) who had already printed his book, in a very simple, affordable way, and declared that his family could invest the money in printing a better version of the book if they wanted to! So that’s an option too! Just make sure they have the digital file!
I hope this little tip helps.
Keep writing, one page at a time, because your story matters. Also, one day it will be your family’s history. Let me know how you’re getting on with it.
