It’s ok to take a break from writing your story

Hey there,

How is your writing project coming along? Today I want to tell you that sometimes it’s ok to take a break.

There are days when we can write and we write until we can’t see the ‘wood for the trees.’

That’s usually a good time to step away from your words for a while and let the dust settle.

Maybe leave it for a day, or even a week or so, so you can return to it with fresh eyes.

Then when you do refocus on it, you are going to look at it from a new perspective. You’ll notice things you couldn’t see last time you looked at it, because back then you were so IN your story that you couldn’t see some details.

So never feel guilty or bad about putting your work down for a while, it may be the best choice you could make for your work.

But always remember: your story matters,

Charlotte

PS Would you like to write your memoir within one year, with my in-person support? This June I’m hosting the first of four seasonal meet ups for Write Your Memoir students here in Golden Bay, Tasman. Any students of my course are welcome to join. All you need to do is signup and I’ll be in touch with your invitation to join us in a cosy country hall!
