Mōrena, good morning from Tākaka,
How is your wild writing journey coming along this week? I say ‘wild’ because humans writing stories, and attempting to wrangle them into something that makes sense to people outside of their own minds, can sometimes feel like a wild journey.
How do we take our living, changing life story, memories and facts and smooth them into one, clear, linear story?
With creativity, patience and persistence my friend.
Remember that your story will come out in some kind of unique new form. It will start out wobbly on its feet like a newborn deer, uncoordinated and gangly, but as you keep at it, as you follow your original vision for your story, it will begin to stand on its own four legs!
There’s no perfect way for it to emerge, it might come out in spoken words, in notes scribbled on paper, or straight onto a computer. However it appears into this world, the important thing is to persist until it resembles something close to your dream.
And when you get stuck, have faith that the answers will appear, either on my course, or via google, or friends or family. You’ll find a way to move forward.
Keep going.
And have a great day,
Charlotte
PS if you’d like support on your writing journey consider joining my online course Write Your Memoir. And for students who would like to meet in person with a group of people who are also writing their stories, you are warmly invited to join us in Golden Bay this month, Wellington in November and Nelson in December.
