Kia ora from Golden Bay!
My exciting news is – yesterday, we lost all our internet and mobile reception and were cast back to the 90s, followed last night by a nice little earthquake to finish the day with panache!
Some things are unpredictable. But not so much the main stages of the book writing process
Over time, as I’ve written books for people, I’ve realised there are three stages of book production: writing, editing and design.
The writing part is the bit most people think about when they consider writing a book. But it’s only about a third of the process.
Next there’s often a whole lot of editing and proofreading. You might work with professionals, or friends, but it’s good to invite others to have a read and make suggestions.
Finally, and this mostly applies to those who want to publish their stories into bona fide books (rather than spiral bound booklets), there’s some book layout work required, with a designer.
The designer will help you with your book cover, text layout, font and other details. They should also help you communicate with whoever is printing your book.
One step at a time you will get there, all you need to do is keep taking action, whether it’s research, writing, editing or preparing your book to be printed. The important thing is to keep going dear writer!
Write on.
