Tis the season 🎄
What’s Christmas for you? For me it’s all about family. Oh and food, so much food. My siblings and their families will be gathering at my house, where my mother lives too, and we’ll be spending precious time together.
The kids will bounce on the tramp, there may be water pistols. The adults will sit around catching up. Our visitors’ dogs will lay down the law for our young, exuberant dog. There shall be roast lamb and new potatoes and salad and pav (if the slow cooker pav recipe works!).
Details like this would be interesting to include in your stories, if they fit in there. What did you eat? Do you have a trifle recipe you inherited from your Grandmother? What’s your favourite Christmas tipple? Who did you spend your days with? What does it mean for you – if anything (not everyone celebrates Christmas). Don’t spare the details, they bring a story to life.
Thankyou for your company this year. I’ve enjoyed talking to you from my little corner of the world here in the north-west of the South Island of Aotearoa. I’m going to take two weeks off now to recharge and I’ll be back in the New Year with more encouragement.
Speaking of which, I hope you’ll keep working on your story. Rest if you need to during this festive season, but make sure you pick it up again in 2024 because it matters.
