Your before and after

Kia Ora!

A memoir writer once told me she was writing her story because she wanted her children to learn who she was, before they arrived.

She wanted them to know that she had travelled the world and lived a big life pre-children. She also wanted them to know about the way she was raised, so that they would understand what shaped her.

I love this. What do you want your children and grandchildren to know about you? Honestly? Would you consider including that in your memoir?

Last week I invited you to send me a photo from your youth, and one from now. I’m calling them ‘before and after’ photos. And you did!

Mike sent me these images and said:

“What made me laugh was seeing the development of clothing choice over a 50 year period. My dress sense has not changed, it seems.”

I’d love to see your ‘before and after’ photos too, if you’d like to share them?

Keep writing, because your story matters.
