Keep writing, even if …

Kia ora lovely one,

Every now and then I like to remind you to keep writing. It seems easy enough in theory, yet so many people don’t ever finish their precious stories.

Why not?

Fear that your book isn’t good enough is a top reason for people to stop. Also, overwhelm and confusion about how to wrangle all your info into a cohesive story. Then there’s the sneaking suspicion that no one will ever read your story.

Each of these are understandable concerns. The ‘not good enough’ thing affects most of us, in some area of our life. Overwhelm does happen, when dealing with a life time of stories, photos, documents. And it’s easy to fall into the trap of thinking our life stories and histories are insignificant.

But let me remind you, your story was good enough the moment you started writing it, because there’s nothing else out there quite like it. You can reduce your overwhelm by breaking it down into small parts and writing one part at a time (it doesn’t matter what order you write it in, just write). Finally, you are part of a family, a community and a world, who will read your story, because it’s their story. It’s their history. So yes, people are going to read your story. You only need to share it.

This can be a scary and exciting thought.

Keeping writing,

Charlotte x

“Well the little Catholic girl has changed into a champagne drinking adult. Innocence to inebriation. Lol.”
