Kia ora lovely,
I’ve been thinking about the many different ways you can write memoirs. They can be themed, held together by a thread that has run through your life. They can be about one chapter of your life. You might like to focus on your career, your travels, your family … it’s up to you.
One example is a lady I worked with a few years ago who only wanted to write about she and her siblings’ lives before she turned 12. Those were the happiest days of her life and involved lots of wild adventures in the Kiwi countryside. So that’s what we focused on. She had made screeds of messy notes and we knitted them together into a story. She wanted to pass those memories onto her beloved grandchildren, who were quite young at the time.
That lovely lady has since passed away, but she left behind a sweet book of stories, with photos, for her family.
If you were to only write about one ‘chapter’ of your life, what would it be?
Write on,
