Kia ora,
This month, in honour of Valentine’s Day, I’m focusing on love stories. Because, I can. I am, at heart, a romantic. I love the ‘how did you meet’ stories.
My dad met my mum at the Whakatu Hotel in Nelson. She wore a full suede outfit. Think long suede boots, a suede skirt and a jacket with suede tassels on the sleeves. He apparently looked like Sean Connery and was a confirmed bachelor who was absolutely not looking for love. But as we all know, that’s when love finds you, doesn’t it?
How about you? Do you have at least one love story in your memoir? They don’t need to be the usual ones, they can take many forms: the first time you held your child, the last time you hugged your grandparent, an animal who gave more to you than you ever expected, a teacher, a friend, even a place that filled up your soul. I hope you have a few love stories in your memoir.
And if you’d like to share a 200 word love story with me, and with the readers of this newsletter, just hit reply to share it.
Because your love stories matter.
And most importantly, keep writing dear one.
