Thinking of writing your memoir, life story or family history, but not sure where to start, or how to keep going? I’ve helped hundreds of people in your position write their stories, and I’d love to help you.
I created my course online Write Your Memoir to teach beginner memoir writers a step by step process to write their stories.

Who am I?

I’m Charlotte Squire, I’ve been a writer for 20 plus years, including being a journalist, author, researcher, online content creator and editor. I’m on a mission to help more elders write their memoirs and histories.
How it works
Videos with text – I supply 40 + short videos with text that will guide you through the process of writing your story, preparing you for the editing and design stages of your book.
Roadmap – I supply a folder full of templates for you to follow to write your book. You simply need to write your notes and story into the documents.
Feedback and support – I also offer you a half hour one-on-one chat, where I personally coach you on your writing. I’m available for more one-on-one chats where needed too.
Monthly meetups – You have the option of joining a regular online meeting with an amazing group of memoir writers who are trying to finish their stories. You can ask questions, set and review goals, share your writing for feedback, and connect with people.
Facebook group – You are invited to join our Facebook group, where you can connect with other students and ask questions, anytime.

Course modules:
- Writing basics
- Planning and preparing your story
- Proof reading and editing
- How to organise photos and other extras for your book
- Formating and design
- How to publish or print your book
- Marketing your book
- Author talks
Write Your Memoir will set you up to:
- Complete not only draft one of your story, but polish it up into the second draft stage.
- Prepare any images, notes, recipes, family trees and extra elements to be formatted into your book.
Ready to publish?
Once you reach draft two, you can either share it electronically as it is, or you can carry on and self-publish, print, your book.
If you want to self publish, it’s then time to have someone (a friend or professional) proofread it for you, before sending your text and images to a book layout person, or your local printers, who can prepare it to be printed.
We can help you publish your book
Because each book varies in length, details and layout, we offer this as an additional service, with an additional charge that varies depending on your needs. Learn more about our book production service here.

Frequently Asked Questions:
- How much would it cost for me to write and publish a memoir if I was working with you one-on-one?
It generally costs my clients anywhere from $15,000 to $20,000 for me to write their memoir. It could be more or less than that, but just to give you a ball park. And the process can take six months to two years, depending on how fast you can get information to me, and also upon what I’m working on at the time. It takes us roughly 100 hours to produce a book, including layout and design.
2. Does this course include editing, proof reading, designing and publishing my book?
This course teaches the many steps involved in writing a story, and taking it to the point where it’s close to being ready to print. It does not include the cost of proof reading, editing and preparing and printing a book manuscript. It does coach you to plan, prepare and write, and polish your book, plus prepare all additions to your book such as photographs, letters, poems etc. It also teaches you about the proof reading, editing, layout and design and publishing processes. Plus there’s a bonus module on marketing for those who need it.
3. I’m not very good at writing, will I be able to keep up with this course?
Yes, this course is designed for beginners. The first module is all about the basics of writing. There’s also a Facebook group for students where you can ask questions, anytime. We believe everyone can be a writer, no matter how much or little experience they’ve had.
4. What if English isn’t my first language?
You are so welcome to join this course, no matter where you come from. We believe all voices are important, and that your story will be all the better for the unique way that you tell it. We try to support people to tell their stories just as they would speak them, so that it seems as if you’re right there, in the room, talking to your readers.
5. How fast do I need to do this course?
You can take as much time as you like to finish it. Once you enroll, you’ll have access to these lessons for the lifetime duration of the course. This means, each time we improve it, you’ll have access to those improvements and any additions to the course too. You can take months, or years to do this course, it’s up to you.
